Baildon Town Council has signed a Partnership Agreement with Bradford Council which means that Baildon Library will continue until at least April 2020. Volunteers will work alongside paid library staff. Bradford will retain full control of the building and its maintenance, although the Town Council may choose to use the space in different ways when it is not in use as a library.
This formal agreement now seals all the details which will enable us to work in partnership with Bradford Council to keep our library. Rachel Gallagher, Volunteer Organiser, will recruit and manage the many volunteers we need to make this a success. The new "hybrid" model is scheduled to start in June 2017.
Baildon is fortunate to have a really strong community spirit and we have every hope that by forming this Partnership, we will see our library go from strength to strength. We know that Baildon library is important to the residents of Baildon. Despite the advent of electronic books and many other ways to read, usage at Baildon remains good by all ages and sections of the community. The library is in many ways the hub of our community.
