I have been a resident of Baildon since 1983 and a member of the Town Council since 2013. Married with two grown up children, I am a retired former teacher who worked in schools across West Yorkshire until 2010.

I have been involved in community life in Baildon throughout my residency, having served as a Governor in four schools and as a Chair of a school for nine years. Currently, outside of the Council, I chair the Baildon Carnival Association, which organises the annual Town Carnival each July, and am a regular volunteer at Bracken Hall Countryside Centre.

While volunteering as a Councillor I have chaired the Planning Committee and recently served on the Environment, Planning and Bracken Hall Committees.

I have lived in Baildon since 1986, and enjoy the semi-rural location on the edge of the moors, but also the proximity to Leeds and Bradford, all accessible from our local railway station! Having raised three sons here, who all attended local primary and secondary schools, I have been involved in many aspects of community life over the years, including 10 years as a school governor of Tong Park First and Ladderbanks Middle schools.

I have had a long career mainly in local government (Bradford and Craven) and am enjoying using my experience to local benefit. I look forward to working with others to help Baildon to go from strength to strength!

I am a member of the Assets Committee and the Environment, Regeneration and Safety Committee.

I was born and raised in Baildon and attended local schools. The wellbeing of the area is very important to me but my route to becoming a town councillor was not particularly planned. I was originally co-opted to Baildon Parish Council (as the Town Council was then known) in October 2008, to fill a "casual vacancy" and have served continuously since.

Prior to 2008 I helped to establish the parish council, as a member of Baildon Community Council from January 2002. This was a role I originally took on to represent younger people. Over this time I also held various other voluntary positions, including Baildon Futures Partnership, Shipley Area Partners' Advisory Group and an Associate Governor at Salt Grammar School (now Titus Salt School). I established and served on both Baildon in Bloom and the Ferniehurst Dell Improvement Partnership.

Between 2006 and 2010 I studied at the University of Sheffield, following which I worked for local government in Merseyside and North Yorkshire. Outside of politics, my interests include horticulture, reading, rambling and theatre. I have appeared in several local productions, including with Baildon Players.

I served as Vice Chair of the Council Council in 2010/11 and again in 2013/14 and 2014/15. I served as Chair of the Council in 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2015/16. I have also served as a member or the chair of most of the Council's committees and have previously represented the Council at district and regional level. Currently I am a member of the Bracken Hall, Community, Environment and Planning committees.

Originally hailing from near Newcastle, if someone had asked me ten years ago if I was going to lay down my roots in Bradford, I would have been rather puzzled. However after several years of living in this beautiful part of the world and working for a local social landlord, I have come to see Baildon as my home.

As a resident of the Baildon South ward, I understand the area and the pressures it faces in comparison to other parts of Baildon and other parts of Bradford as a whole.

My experience of managing big teams of people and my interaction with people of all types of background over the years (from MPs at one end of the spectrum to people needing welfare assistance at the other) stands me in good stead to be an advocate of the area and able to take in the views of all residents of the ward, whatever the issues.

I first moved to Baildon 17 years ago, where I met my future wife. We finally moved back to Baildon the year before last. We have two great children who attend local schools. In my professional life, I manage the Yorkshire office of a national recruitment company.

Since joining the Town Council in December 2013, I have joined the Bracken Hall Committee, the Health and Youth Committee, the Planning Committee and the Staffing and Complaints Committee.

I have a great interest in the future of Baildon because this is now my home and where my children will make their homes. I will endeavour to do all I can and work with anyone interested in providing services for the youth of Baildon.

Please feel free to contact me about any issues that you may have, my phone is always on.

I came to Baildon from Harrogate 50 years ago as a young police recruit, when Baildon had its own Police section. I liked it so much I decided to get married and settle down here. We now have two grown up children and four grandchildren who attend local schools.

After retiring from the service as a Chief Supt in Bradford I worked for the Bradford Health Authority tackling drug misuse across the district. For 20 years I also provided support for a local Christian drug rehabilitation charity for homeless young addicts.

As Chair of the former Bradford Community Health Council I helped improve local services in Bradford. I also ran my own business for 10 years. I currently support the Bradford Police Museum Charity at City Hall where I act as a part time guide.

My ambition is to improve the quality of life of residents of Baildon and helping young people achieve their full potential in a safe environment.

I am currently the Vice Chair of the Planning Committee and the Chair of the Community Committee.

I live with my partner, and son when he is in England, in Baildon where I have lived all my life. My son attended local primary and upper schools as I did. Some of my extended family still live in Baildon as does my mother. I am really interested in community issues and because my mother attended the Link I recognise the value of this excellent community resource.

I have had a long career in housing and am particularly interested in dementia care and local services for the elderly. As a passionate reader I am very interested in Baildon library and would like to see it upgraded and developed, to increase all children’s life chances.

In my professional life I worked in housing for over 20 years as Housing Manager and my interests are planning and housing. With the experience I have of homelessness and welfare benefits I also volunteer at CenterPoint Foyer as a mentor for young people and St Vincent de Paul as a work club assistant. My leisure interests are walking, skiing and reading.

I have enjoyed living in Baildon since 1982. I retired 6 years ago from a career in community development, working in local authorities and voluntary organisations. For the final 14 years of employment I was Bradford Council's Area Co-ordinator for Shipley, and chaired Neighbourhood Forums across the constituency, including in Baildon.

I served as a Town Councillor on Baildon Town Council from 2011-2015, and for two of these years, I was the Chair.

In retirement, I am pleased to be able to serve my community in a voluntary capacity. I am secretary to the Baildon Walkers are Welcome group; a part-time walks-leader for HF Holidays; an active member of Baildon Methodist Church and of the Village Voices Choir; and I volunteer with the Baildon Parkinson's Support Group, BEACON, and Nightstop.

I have always been passionate about the importance of "community" – and am convinced that people are each other's greatest resource. By working together and sharing our experience, skills and ideas, we can find local solutions to local problems. I am keen to support local community activities, protect and enhance our environment, and help to preserve those facilities (statutory, voluntary, and businesses) which make Baildon such a good place to live.

I have lived in Baildon all my life. Baildon is a town I love and being in the Council provides me with the ability to give something back to the community.

I have Aspergers Syndrome and I am a trustee of a charity that works with and for disabled people in the Bradford District.

I am an Early Years practitioner and have a keen interest in providing positive opportunities for children and their families. I believe that community is an essential part of Baildon and contributes to it being a great place to live
