The opening of the Southcliffe Drive play area
SOUTHCLIFFE DRIVE PLAY AREA

The Town Council was proud to be involved in a project to raise funding for a new playground for children living in the Southcliffe and Ferniehurst area of Baildon. As well as direct funding from Baildon Town Council, money was also raised from Bradford District Council, and WREN – which allocates funds from the landfill tax to good causes.

The official opening took place on Tuesday 23 July – just in time for the summer holidays. Staff from Baildon Children's Centre and HALE, and representatives of Baildon Community Link and Baildon Town Council were on hand to provide extra play activities throughout the afternoon.

Chris Flecknoe, Chair of Baildon Town Council, thanked all the Councillors, partner organisations, and residents for the support and team work which has brought this project to fruition.

She said: "This is an example of how the limited allocation of Town Council funds – in this case £14,000 – combined with a good deal of hard work by many people, has encouraged other funders with deeper pockets than ours, to contribute, so that an additional £64,000 has been drawn-in to benefit residents through the installation of this new playground."
