Yorkshire's Biggest Bike Race

On Sunday 30th April the Tour de Yorkshire will pass through Baildon for 2.5 miles along Otley Road. The Town Council has agreed to support a ‘Baildon Welcomes the Tour de Yorkshire’ working group to support the efforts of Baildon residents and businesses who want to get involved.

The Town Council's role is to facilitate and support rather than running events itself, and the group is an informal one open to all. The Town Council has put a small budget behind the Baildon effort, but the aim is to help all the businesses along Otley road and nearby, with local residents, to put on a great display and give a great welcome!

It's the sort of thing Baildon does really well and we hope this will take off if you all get involved.

The working group has met on 3 occasions so far at the Halfway House and Marriotts (both free of charge). A range of businesses are actively involved, mostly from Otley Road.

Baildon Town Council is involved as a facilitator to:

  • Create an entertaining and enjoyable weekend for Baildon residents

  • Raise the profile of Baildon locally and more widely

  • Seize the opportunity to engage large and small businesses along Otley Road in Baildon

The group is multi-talented and and has gelled into an impressive team giving mutual support and practical help.
