Baildon Library

Since June 2017 Baildon Library has been a hybrid library. Baildon Town Council volunteers work alongside paid Bradford Libraries staff to keep the service open for the local community.

We currently have 36 volunteers who are managed by our volunteer coordinator, Rachel Gallagher. The volunteers staff the front desk and also help with activities such as storytime, book displays, family history drop-ins and indexing our local studies collection.

In February 2023 Baildon Town Council was awarded the People Can Volunteering Quality Standard Award by Community Action Bradford and District (CABAD) https://cabad.org.uk/ which recognises good practice in the management of our library volunteers.

They said:

"Your evidence met, and in some areas, exceeded the assessment criteria, which is a credit to the way your organisation values and manages its volunteers."

The award is valid for 3 years (from February 2023 until 31st December 2025) after which it can hopefully be renewed.
