Update re Landslip

Cllr Gill Dixon, has received the following letter from Network Rail:

Dear Gill,

Baildon landslip – line reopening

I am writing to express my sincere thanks for your support, collaboration, and understanding since work to repair the landslip at Baildon started back in mid-February. This major incident has brought with it significant sensitivities and has a profound impact on rail passengers, residents and the broader community and I'm grateful for the feedback you've given us as work has progressed.

I am delighted to confirm that work has progressed as planned and that the rail line will reopen on Sunday 30 June which will allow the reinstatement of the train service between Bradford, Baildon and Ilkley.

In total, over 16,000 tonnes of spoil have been removed from site. There were no safety incidents during the repairs, and we are confident in the structural integrity of the slope for the future. This week we are also checking and carrying out maintenance on all the other rail assets along the length of line to allow a smooth re-start of services. We will continue to monitor the line and be on the lookout for any other issues.

Our community relations team will continue to support residents should there be any further concerns.

Yours sincerely,

Route Director for North & East
