Volunteering Opportunities

Baildon Town Council relies on the support and dedication of volunteers. They add value to the organisation, bringing in a wider mix of ages and cultures, new skills, and experience and enthusiasm.

We're currently recruiting volunteers to work in Baildon Hybrid Library and Bracken Hall Countryside Centre. Click here for role descriptions.

People Can Volunteering Quality Standard Award (Baildon Library)

In February 2023 Baildon Town Council was awarded the People Can Volunteering Quality Standard Award by Community Action Bradford and District (CABAD) https://cabad.org.uk/ which recognises good practice in the management of our library volunteers.

They said:

"Your evidence met, and in some areas, exceeded the assessment criteria, which is a credit to the way your organisation values and manages its volunteers."

The award is valid for 3 years (from February 2023 until 31st December 2025) after which it can hopefully be renewed.

Event to celebrate our library volunteers

On Thursday 28 September 2023, Baildon Town Council held an event to celebrate and thank our volunteers at Baildon Hybrid Library.

The hybrid library has been running for over 6 years (or more precisely 2299 days!) and has just marked its first anniversary in its temporary location on Northgate.

All volunteers were thanked with cake and a Certificate of Appreciation. Gifts were also presented to some volunteers by town councillor, Gill Jennison to reward their contribution to the library service.

7 volunteers have given 500 or more hours of their time to the library and they received a gift of a book token:

  • Marion Allen (673 hours)
  • Linda Brannan (599 hours)
  • Sharon Chapman (510 hours)
  • David Imeson (522 hours)
  • Ruth Jones (662 hours)
  • Jill McDougall (571 hours)
  • Hilary Vodden (692 hours)

A further 3 volunteers have given over 700 hours of their time! They were presented with literary-themed rose bushes.

  • Jill Hirst (901 hours)
  • Michael Skelton (814 hours)
  • Rosie Prentice (762 hours)

The library service could not operate without the dedication and enthusiasm of our team of volunteers and we are very grateful for all of their support.
